Bakara, a Morocco-born Melbourne resident learnt about Yahya and spent months finding him a reconstructive surgeon. She connected with Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital doctor Tony Holmes in 2014, and he immediately began making models of the boy’s skull to prepare rebuilding it in a high-risk surgery.
